Why we built this
Getting an ADHD or autism assessment in the UK should not require hours of research, confusing NHS guidance, and dead-end phone calls. Yet for millions of people, that is exactly what it involves.
NHS waiting lists for ADHD assessment can stretch to five years or more in some areas. Many people are unaware that NHS Right to Choose — a policy that lets patients in England ask their GP to refer them to a private CQC-registered provider at no cost — even exists.
Seen Sooner was created to fix this. Three questions, under two minutes, and you have a personalised shortlist of providers matched to your location, age group, and preferences — ranked by cost-effectiveness and wait time.
The service covers ADHD, Autism (ASD), and combined AuDHD assessments for both adults and children, across England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
Founder's Story: The “Hard Boiled Egg” Moment
I'm 45 now, and I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult at 42. For my whole life, I knew I was different, but I always thought it was just a black cloud following me around... that everything I did somehow went wrong.
Years ago, someone sent me a meme that stuck with me forever: “People will judge you by your actions and not your intentions... you may have a heart of gold, but so does a hard boiled egg!”
From then on, we had a saying in our house. Whenever something went wrong despite the absolute best of intentions, we called it a “hard boiled egg moment.”
Being diagnosed so late in life as an adult means I have spent a lot of time longing for what might have been. I cannot complain about my life or where I am today, but I would have liked to have got here just a little bit easier than it was.
I've grieved. I've cried. I've been angry. I've been upset. I've laughed. And of course, in true ADHD fashion, I've pored over every single little thing a million times—replaying conversations from 15 or 20 years ago: the “I said,” the “they said,” and the endless “I wish I'd saids.”
The diagnostic journey wasn't the easiest, but I am so incredibly glad I did it when I did. Today, my local NHS Wales waiting list has stretched to 4+ years. I am medicated now—some days it helps, and some days it doesn't—but at least now I finally have a reason for the way I am and the way I feel, and that is half the battle.
My one hope is that this directory helps at least one person. To show them that there is help available, that they are not alone, and that a diagnosis helps understand who you are.

Always free
Seen Sooner will never charge you to use the matching service. We are funded by advertising, not by providers — so our results are never influenced by commercial relationships.
Independent
We do not accept payment from providers to appear in or rank higher in results. Rankings are based entirely on objective factors: CQC rating, wait time, cost, and distance from your postcode.
Built for the community
Seen Sooner was created out of direct experience with the difficulty of navigating ADHD and autism assessment in the UK. We know how overwhelming it can feel — our goal is to make the first step simpler.
How Seen Sooner works
Our matching engine uses your postcode to detect your UK nation and your nearest Integrated Care Board (ICB) area in England — this determines whether NHS Right to Choose applies and which providers are geographically close to you.
Providers are sourced from the CQC register and cross-referenced with publicly available information on wait times, pricing, age groups, and accepted funding routes. We refresh this data regularly and integrate with the CQC's public API at build time to surface the latest regulatory ratings.
Results are ranked by a value score that weighs cost, wait time, CQC rating, and distance from your postcode — so the most cost-effective and practical option appears first, not the most commercially promoted.
Our data sources
Every provider listed on Seen Sooner is verified against at least one of the following authoritative sources before being added to the database:
Care Quality Commission (CQC)
England's independent regulator of health and social care. We verify CQC registration, location, and inspection rating for all English providers.
Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS)
Regulatory body for independent healthcare providers in Scotland. Used to verify Scottish clinic registrations.
Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW)
Regulatory body for healthcare services in Wales. Used to verify Welsh provider registrations.
RQIA (Northern Ireland)
The Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority regulates health and social care in Northern Ireland.
NHS ICB and Health Board websites
We consult each Integrated Care Board (England) and devolved health board (Wales, Scotland, NI) for Right to Choose status, referral pathways, and local guidance.
Provider websites and published fee schedules
Prices, wait times, and service scope are taken from providers' own published information and updated when changes are reported or detected.
Editorial standards and data quality
Regular updates: Provider data is reviewed and updated on an ongoing basis. We cross-check CQC registration status, pricing, and wait time estimates against provider communications and NHS ICB publications. Our provider database was last comprehensively reviewed in June 2026.
No paid listings: Providers cannot pay to be listed, ranked higher, or featured. All ranking decisions are made algorithmically based on distance from the user's postcode, CQC rating, wait time, and cost — not commercial relationships.
Reader corrections: We rely partly on users to flag inaccurate or outdated data. If you spot an error, please report a problem and we will review and correct it promptly.

How does Seen Sooner make money?
We display advertising through Google AdSense. Advertising revenue keeps the service free for everyone. We never receive payments from assessment providers.
Are the provider details on Seen Sooner verified?
We cross-reference provider information with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) database and publicly available information. However, wait times, prices, and availability change frequently — always confirm details directly with the provider before booking.
Does Seen Sooner store my postcode or health information?
No. The information you enter (postcode, age group, preference) is used only within your browser session to generate your results. It is never sent to our servers or stored.
Can I suggest a provider to be added?
Yes — email us at hello@seensooner.co.uk with the provider's details and CQC registration number. We review all submissions and add eligible providers that meet our quality criteria.
