Provider Overview
Wales-based. Led by Dr Sakhuja. Uses DIVA-5 and QbCheck. Important: Welsh GPs have the lowest shared care acceptance rate in the UK (~19%) — strongly advise patients to confirm with GP before paying for private assessment.
What to expect on the day of assessment
A gold-standard neurodevelopmental assessment is a thorough clinical investigation. Here is what you should expect from this provider:
- Pre-Assessment Check: You will complete pre-screening questionnaires (such as ASRS for ADHD or AQ-10 for Autism) and gather background information.
- Structured Diagnostic Interview: The clinician will conduct a clinical interview using validated tools (like the DIVA-5 and/or ADOS-2). They will discuss your development, school reports, and current day-to-day challenges.
- Informant Report: Where possible, a parent, partner, or close friend who knew you in childhood or knows you well now will be interviewed to corroborate symptoms.
- Outcome & Feedback: A detailed diagnostic report is issued explaining the diagnosis and mapping out recommended accommodations or treatment plans.
Detailed cost & titration breakdown
Includes QbCheck, DIVA-5 assessment & report.
£150 per titration review.
£30 per private prescription.
£200 per annual review.
Post-diagnostic support & Shared Care success
Offers medication titration services. Direct psychoeducation resources or coaching should be confirmed with the clinic.
Shared Care success rate is: GP Discretion (standard for private clinics).
A Shared Care Agreement (SCA) allows your NHS GP to take over prescribing your ADHD medication, saving you private drug fees. GPs are not legally obligated to accept private SCAs and may refuse if the provider is not NICE-guideline compliant. This provider's reports are NICE-guideline compliant (GMC/HCPC registered team), which maximizes GP acceptance rates.
Patient Reviews
Excellent Cardiff clinic
Very professional clinic based in Cardiff. Led by Dr Sakhuja, who is a top consultant psychiatrist. The assessment used DIVA-5 and QbCheck, and felt incredibly rigorous. Very satisfied.
Superb care, but warning about Welsh GP shared care
The Welsh Psychiatry Centre was excellent. The clinical care is outstanding. However, I want to warn other patients in Wales: Welsh GPs are notorious for refusing shared care for private ADHD diagnoses. It took me three GP visits and a lot of stress to get my Welsh GP to accept it. The clinic was very supportive and provided letters to help me. The clinic itself is definitely 5 stars!
